'FlashForward' may have been discarded by ABC, but that hasn't stopped fans from aggressively campaigning for another network to pick up the series. It's worked before for other shows and according to TVOverMind, Starz might be the savior fans are hoping for. A fan posted on the Save FlashForward! Facebook fanpage that they were told by a Starz's representative that the network is aggressively looking into picking up the series. To prove their dedication to the series, 'FlashForward' fans have staged blackouts in front of ABC offices. The series starred Joseph Fiennes (right) as an FBI agent looking into the cause of a worldwide blackout that showed citizens a glimpse into their future. The series debuted to strong ratings, 12.47 million viewers, but fizzled as the season progressed. The series finale on ABC was seen by less than 5 million people. 'FlashForward' received favorable initial reviews, but suffered from a long hiatus and behind-the-scenes changes that saw a variety of players coming and going. In October 2009, Marc Guggenheim left the series, prompting co-creator and executive producer David S. Goyer to step in and replace him. However, Goyer didn't stick around long and departed in February 2010. Goyer remained involved with the series, but his wife, Jessika, Lisa Zwerling and Timothy J. Lea acted as showrunners for the remainder of the season. Starz recently canceled critical darling 'Party Down' because the show never attracted a large audience. Many argued that's because many viewers don't subscribe to Starz, so how would 'FlashForward' find and build an audience on the cable network? 'FlashForward' ended with another blackout, leaving audiences with a cliffhanger. Will Starz give them the resolution they're hoping for? Time will tell.

Before ratings tanked, FlashForward had planned to follow through on its pilot prophecy of killing off FBI agent Demetri Noh (John Cho), reveals Gabrielle Union, who played Demetri's fiance, attorney Zoey Andata. "Then I was supposed to avenge his death in Season 2 by representing defendants against the FBI whom I blamed for his death," Union says. But John's popularity, fueled by the success of his role as Sulu in the big-screen Star Trek, led the writers to alter his fate, thus limiting Zoey's storyline to the point that she wasn't even included in the series finale.
"Certain storylines got shortchanged," shrugs Union, who blames the show's cancellation on the difficulty of trying "to sell quantum physics when you have the Olympics going on."

A fictional global blackout changed many people's fates on FlashForward, and now fans of the ABC drama are hoping a series of blackouts will help change the canceled show's fate as well. Weeks after ABC failed to renew the ratings-challenged freshman drama, fans are organizing massive staged blackouts to take place in front of ABC offices in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and several other major cities on June 10.
"On October 6, 2009, the whole world blacked out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, at the start of what promised to be ABC's new hit show, FlashForward," the "Save FlashForward" website says. "On June 10th, there will be another blackout, this time to change fate."
In addition to the staged blackouts, fans have begun sending calendars with the date April 29th circled (the date of the flash-forwards and of the second global blackout), friendship bracelets like the one Charlie gave her father, Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes), and letters to ABC President Stephen McPherson. The staged blackouts and mailings mirror previous fan efforts to save cult series. In 2008, Jericho fans sent peanuts CBS executives, persuading them to give the show a short second season. Last year, Chuck viewers locked in a Season 3 renewal by flocking to series advertiser Subway as part of the "Finale and a Footlong" campaign.

ven though FlashForward is no longer in Joseph Fiennes' future, the actor still has a trick up his sleeve - as Merlin. According to Variety, the 40-year-old star will be portraying the legendary wizard on a new drama series known as Camelot. Quiz: How Much Do You Know About Mark Benford? Joining him on the show is French actress Eva Green, known for her portrayal in the James Bond film Casino Royale. She will be portraying the sorceress Morgana, which is her first television role. Camelot will premiere on the Starz network, with filming beginning later this month in Ireland. Joining the two leads on the show are Jamie Campbell Bower and Tamsin Egerton, playing Arthur and Guinevere. It's obvious that Camelot is no FlashForward, but it's an interesting career move for Joseph Fiennes nevertheless. He's already done action and suspense with the ABC series, but is best known for his more dramatic roles. He simply maintains the diversity in the parts he chooses, from those in Shakespeare in Love to Enemy at the Gates. To Read More Click Here. |
