Let's face it as wonderful as last week's Fringe was, it didn't do
so great in the ratings. "Peter" only managed to score 5.83 million
viewers, with a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 rating. That's
kind of paltry when compared to earlier episodes of the season.
January's "The Bishop Revival" got much higher ratings than that. However,
last night's Fringe showed a slight rebound that we can attribute to
the fact that "Peter" was a return from a very long hiatus. "Olivia. In
the Lab. With the Revolver" received 6.46 million viewers (though,
oddly enough, the 18-49 rating stayed the same). This rebound is
slight, but it does mean that there is hope for the series to make at
least a partial recovery from the hiatus-induced ratings hemorrhage.

For now, I'll hold off judgment about the twist at the end of "Queen
Sacrifice," but I have to say that it seemed unnecessary. At this point
in FlashForward, when things have actually become more interesting, I
didn't need to see "one of our own" be called out as a traitor;
especially considering the fact that Simon (Dominic Monaghan) is
already working with the FBI and has split allegiances himself. And it
wasn't hard to figure out who would be revealed as the mole if you
watched the "next time on FlashForward" montage from the previous week
because it showed Simon saying "you were the mole all along" to someone
off-screen. Someone who's his height. Someone who, from the dialogue,
you can assume tricked a lot of people during the episode and went
uncaught. An FBI agent who Simon seems to have a familiarity with. Was
I 100% sure it would be Janis? No. But she was at the top of my list. To Read More Click Here. |

On this week's episode of FlashForward, Demetri, Janis, Vogel and
Simon travel to Somalia to see the towers from the rumored 1991
blackout. Also, Olivia and Mark try to work on their relationship and
figure out what was in Charlie's flashforward. In the
beginning of the episode, Mark reveals to Stanford his new intel on "D.
Gibbons" now known as Dyson Frost, thanks to Lloyd Simcoe. However,
Mark also discovers that Frost supposedly died in a boating accident in
1990, but as we've seen so many times on this series before, there's
much more to that than meets the eye.
Elsewhere, we see
Demetri, Janis, Simon and Vogel land in war-torn Somalia via helicopter
with actual volunteers from the Red Panda humanitarian organization
Mark had looked into two episodes before. As soon as the helicopter
lands, their guide is shot and killed by a man named Abdi and the team
is taken under hostage. We learn Abdi is not just any regular
villager, but someone who lived in the village when the first blackout
hit in the village in 1991. Abdi remembers "others," or foreigners who
came to the village and promised to bring electricity. Then, when this
blackout hit, Abdi was the only one awake and remembers seeing everyone
in his village after having fallen to the floor and unconscious.

If there was any chance of FlashForward getting renewed for a second
season, it's a significantly smaller chance now. ABC's hope for a LOST
replacement has utterly failed in terms of viewership. Though the
initial drop could possibly be blamed on the three-and-a-half-month
hiatus between "A561984" and "Revelation Zero," the episode "Better
Angels" proved that FlashForward likely will not be renewed beyond its
first season. Mark Benford shouldn't be worrying about another blackout
- we'll never see it happen. Not when new episodes of the show are
getting 5.07 million viewers. To Read More Click Here. |

If you've given up on FlashForward, do yourself a favor and check
back in. ABC's high concept tour de force has taken a while to find
it's voice, but now that it has FlashForward is singing its own song -
and according to the cast, things are only going to get wilder from
here on out. A few weeks back we were able to speak with stars Joseph
Fiennes and Dominic Monaghan - as a back-slid fan, the first thing on
my mind was where things were heading in the future. To Read More Click Here. |
